The West Noble girl's cross country team traveled to the Manchester Invite Saturday and faced off against some of the best teams in the state. With Manchester being named a new Regional site they also got a valuable preview of the course ahead of next month's IHSAA tournament. Despite not being at full strength the girls still managed to pull off a gritty 4th place finish out of nearly 30 teams. State powers Homestead and Concordia went 1st and 2nd respectively. Huntington North was 3rd, followed by West Noble. Fellow NECC member Fairfield rounded out the Top 5. 6th place Bluffton and 7th place SB Adams grabbed the last of the team awards. The girls were once again paced by Karla Dominguez who finished 21st in 20:11. Freshman Maggie Marin cut over 30 seconds from her previous best with a 21:00. Victoria Mendoza (21:11), Lynden Chordas (21:27) and Jacky Silva (21:37) made for a strong WN pack to make up the Charger's scoring five. Their 1-5 spread time of only 1:26 was amongst the best in the field, second only to winner Homestead. Rounding out the varsity 7 were Monet Bieberich (22:31) and Mya Emmert (23:11). They were able to get in ahead of many of the other team's scoring 5 and significantly contribute to WN's final placing. In the JV race, Olivia Troxel led WN with a time of 26:18, followed by Maryana Troxel in 26:51, Allison Giltner (one of her best times) in 27:04, and Ali Bloss in 30:12. The girls are back in action at home Wednesday for the NECC Super Duel to decide the conference's regular season champion.
